William J. Burns (1978 Marshall scholar)
Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (C.I.A.) under President Biden. Before his confirmation, Burns was president of the oldest international affairs think tank in the United States, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He holds the highest rank in Foreign Service, career ambassador, and is only the second serving career diplomat in history to become deputy secretary of state. Burns has been the recipient of three Presidential Distinguished Service Awards and a number of Department of State awards.
Kurt Campbell (1980 Marshall Scholar)
Presdent Biden’s Coordinator for Indo-Pacific Affairs in the National Security Council. He is Chair and CEO of The Asia Group and Chair of the Center for a New American Security; recently Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific affairs and earlier Deputy Secretary of Defense for Asia and the Pacific and Associate Professor at the Kennedy School, Harvard University.
Roger Tsien (1972 Marshall Scholar)
